About the Collection

The expansive collection includes the best work of local artists, photographers, inventors, craftspeople, businesses, and factories. Approximately 30,000 objects, 15,000 photographs, 1,600 rare books and over 120 linear feet of archival material represent the region’s diverse arts, rich history, and culture of innovation from the 18th century to the present.  Selections from our collection are on exhibit in their galleries.

“Allure, A Dream House”, 1996 (2019. 1.3 a-c), “A Landscape/A Cow”, 1985 (2019. 1.2), and “Vermont View”, 2005 (2019. 1.1) were acquired by the museum in 2018, as part of a major gift by the Kohler Foundation. The pieces were selected for their correlation with New England imagery, aliging with the museum’s acquisition of regional objects.

The Bennington Museum is located in Bennington, Vermont.
