The Great Recession of 2008 — Piggy Bankers documents events leading up to the global financial crisis. One side of the piece depicts how Main Street was affected by the actions of the big banks, insurance companies, and Wall Street. The other side shows the domino effect after the fall of Lehman Brothers on September 15, 2008, the results of which almost toppled the entire financial system in the US. The piece is symbolically crowned by a Piggy Banker who is unable to see beyond his own golden parachute — a representation of excessive self-enrichment at the expense of others.
